Ministry Training Center: Ebeneezer Ranch

Abadiânia, Goiás, Brazil

History: Brazil is a country that is, like most developing nations, not immune to the recent rises in organized crime relating to the usage and sales of drugs. According to a survey done Paula Miraglia, a Public Sector Senior Specialist, “Although Brazil only ranks 47th in terms of incarceration rates, in absolute numbers its prison population consists of 513,713 inmates: the world’s fourth highest number, after the United States, China, and Russia. Notably, the prison population has more than doubled over the past decade. According to data from the Brazilian Integrated Penitentiary Information System, by the end of 2012, 27 percent of those incarcerated were convicted under drug trafficking penalties”.  Drugs and imprisonment are afflicting the nation of Brazil as a whole – namely the young men. While recovery programs are available, most of them have a high relapse rate – as the patients are given time to detox their bodies, but without a clear goal in life end up back where they were.

Current: The Ministry Training Center is a project that is currently under development in the municipality of Abadiânia in Goiás, Brazil. The center was birthed from a mission to help those suffering from substance abuse and addiction and infuse their lives with the meaning that God has intended for them. This is achieved through two types of training: practical education in the arena of trades for work, and learning not only about God’s Word, but how to apply what is spoken in it to the world through ministry. The goal is to foster a discipleship lifestyle for the individual in both the physical world by learning about tasks like carpentry, welding, and masonry, and also in a spiritual aspect by developing knowledge of God, how to follow Him, and how to teach others about Him and serve His kingdom.

Future: Please keep the project in your prayers as we continuing building into 2017.
